Elementary, Middle School, & Adult Beginners

For children up to age 12 with or without previous piano experience (up to Level Two) lessons are given for 45 minutes of concentrated instruction once each week. We prefer a lesson of at least 45-minutes in length. Time moves VERY quickly in our lessons and we constantly find we run out of time before either the student, parent or the teacher can blink.

These students are required to practice a minimum of 30 minutes each day (which may be broken into two segments if necessary). All students must have an acoustic piano or a large electronic keyboard (88 full-size keys) at home for practice.

The fee for four 45-minute lessons is $140. Fees are to be paid every four weeks in advance. This fee does not include the cost of music books or sheet music that the teacher will provide to the student on a nonprofit, reimbursement basis. Parents will receive a separate bill for each new book or sheet music solo. A discount of $20 is given when more than one student comes from the same immediate family. The regular tuition payment for one student is $140.00, payable in advance at the fourth lesson of each 4-week cycle. Two children from the same family will be billed $260 each cycle (family savings of $20.)

Intermediate, Advanced Students and Adult Beginners

Students are accepted with previous piano training. The lessons will be given for 60 minutes of concentrated instruction once each week. These students are required to practice a minimum of one (1) hour each day. The cost of instruction is $200.00 for four one-hour lessons to be paid every four weeks in advance. This fee does not include the cost of music books or sheet music that the teacher will provide to the student on a nonprofit, reimbursement basis. Parents will receive a separate bill for each new music book or sheet music solo. A $20 discount is given when more than one student comes from the same immediate family. The regular tuition payment for one student is $200.00, payable in advance of the first lesson of each cycle. Two children from the same family will be billed $380 each cycle (family savings of $20.)

Attendance Policy

Attendance to individual lessons are mandatory. If you need to miss a lesson, you must give us a 24-hour notice or you will be charged for the missed lesson.

However in the event of sickness, no advanced notice is required. Please simply email or call us and let us know you or your child is sick. You will not be charged for the missed lesson.

Parents pay for FOUR lessons each month in advance. Piano Lessons are not subject to a term contract of any kind. The parents, adult student, or the teacher may terminate lessons at any time with one week’s prior notification.

However, refunds from tuition payments are NOT given, without exceptions, and the logical time to terminate is at the end of a given cycle. Likewise, deposits for summer piano camp are non-refundable and refunds (at the discretion of the teacher) may only be applied to actual piano lessons.

Tardiness is discouraged. If you are going to be more than ten minutes late, you must call, or you will forfeit the lesson.

And one more important thing. If your child is coughing or has a fever, please do NOT bring him to a piano lesson. We work closely next to your child and most times if your child is sick you will make us sick as well!

Recitals, Performances, Contests and Studio Class

We usually have two recitals every year, a Christmas Recital and a May Recital. We rent a professional Recital Hall (usually at Oklahoma Christian University) and enjoy a nice reception following the Recital. There is a recital participation fee (usually $20) to help us pay for the rental of the hall and costs associated with the recital. These are formal recitals and proper dress is required. ALL students are highly encouraged to participate in both recitals. Not participating in recitals (or contests) are grounds for dismissal from the studio, at the discretion of the instructor.

Outside performances (talent shows, special church performances, etc.) are encouraged. However, all performances and repertoire must be approved by Mr. or Mrs. Fisher giving the date, location and works to be performed.

Mr. Fisher has great pride in his students and their talents and also has built up a long history and reputation in his highly acclaimed studio and wishes to protect this reputation. It is required to be approved by him both in event and repertoire for ALL outside performances. No exceptions. Not getting prior approval for your special event (and repertoire to be performed) is grounds for immediate dismissal from the studio (without refunds on remaining paid-for lessons!)

Contests are highly encouraged as well. We participate in EVERY contest in the State of Oklahoma. This includes: OMTA Junior Auditions, OMTA Senior Auditions, Hubbard-Males and Breckenridge (SWOSU) competitions, MTNA Junior and Senior Competition, Music Olympics (Gilliam and Meinders Piano Competitions), COMTA Solo and Duet Festival and finally, OMTA District and State Auditions. ALL STUDENTS should participate in ALL these contests each year.

Mr. Fisher will host studio performance class on a needed basis, usually around contest time. Students are encouraged and sometimes required to attend and play at these classes. (Mr. Fisher will tell you if you are required to attend and play.)

Closings, Holidays and Makeup Lessons

The Piano Studio will CLOSE one week for Christmas and hopefully, the week of Spring Break. For Thanksgiving week, all lessons will meet except Thanksgiving Day.

Usually, for missed lessons, NO makeup lessons will be given. Unfortunately, that includes lessons missed for Mr. Fisher’s illness as well. (So please try to keep him well and avoid bringing virus to him during your lessons!) Mr. Fisher’s schedule is kept a maximum (with a waiting list) and rarely will a makeup lesson be fitted into the schedule. Mr. Fisher may try, at his discretion, to offer a day.time for a makeup lesson.

Federal Holidays are not usually observed, and the studio will remain open. The studio may be open even if schools do not meet. In the event of SNOW, Mr. Fisher will decide for the safety of the children and parents to close the studio. He will give notice (through email or text) as soon as it becomes a dangerous peril to attend lessons on that day. And we DO close for TORNADOES!
